Jordan Spieth<\/a>, the 2017 Open champion, will be in the field next week for the final major of the year at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n

On a recent appearance on the \u201cUp & Adams Show<\/a>,\u201d the Dallas native confirmed he will play at the British Open after nearly a month away from pro golf.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew it was gonna be short-lived and it was only kind of a few days,\u201d Spieth said of his injury last month. \u201cI\u2019ve been back to full strength, getting ready for the Open Championship next week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spieth, a former Texas Longhorn, was last in action at last month\u2019s Travelers Championship, a signature event on the PGA Tour. He retired after just 13 holes <\/a>with what he called \u201ca weird neck spasm\u201d in the first round. It was the first withdrawal of Spieth\u2019s PGA Tour career.<\/p>\n

Despite last month\u2019s setback, Spieth told Adams he would arrive in Northern Ireland with \u201cno restrictions.\u201d<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m gonna be a little bit of a late arrival, but but I\u2019ll be there,” Spieth said of the year\u2019s final major championship. \u201cLuckily I\u2019ve played The Open at this course in Northern Ireland, six years ago now, so I don\u2019t feel like I have to learn a new place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spieth has made the cut at all three majors this year with two top-25 finishes at the Masters (T14) and the U.S. Open at Oakmont (T23). He will be playing for his second Open Championship and fourth major title next week.<\/p>\n
