{"id":48043,"date":"2025-07-08T06:57:13","date_gmt":"2025-07-08T06:57:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/48043\/"},"modified":"2025-07-08T06:57:13","modified_gmt":"2025-07-08T06:57:13","slug":"tracy-austin-suggests-whether-she-thinks-jannik-sinner-will-even-be-fit-to-face-ben-shelton-in-wimbledon-quarter-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/48043\/","title":{"rendered":"Tracy Austin suggests whether she thinks Jannik Sinner will even be fit to face Ben Shelton in Wimbledon quarter-final"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Ben Shelton has made it to the Wimbledon quarter-finals, following his victory over Lorenzo Sonego in the fourth round. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/ben-shelton\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shelton<\/a> defeated Sonego 3-6, 6-1, 7-6, 7-5 to reach the last eight at a Grand Slam for the fourth time in his career, and second this season. <\/p>\n<p>He is now the youngest American to reach the men\u2019s quarter-finals at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/Wimbledon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wimbledon<\/a> since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/andy-roddick\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andy Roddick<\/a> in 2004. <\/p>\n<p>The world number 10 will face <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/jannik-sinner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jannik Sinner<\/a> in the next round, who advanced after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/very-sad-jannik-sinner-sends-message-to-grigor-dimitrov-after-he-retires-with-injury-in-heartbreaking-fashion\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Grigor Dimitrov retired<\/a> from the fourth-round match with the Italian due to injury, despite being two sets up. <\/p>\n<p>Sinner himself looked to be struggling with an injury against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/grigor-dimitrov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dimitrov<\/a>, which former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WTA<\/a> number one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/Tracy-Austin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tracy Austin<\/a> discussed ahead of his clash with Shelton. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2223996917-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Jannik Sinner checks on an injured Grigor Dimitrov during their Wimbledon clash in 2025.\" \/>Photo by Julian Finney\/Getty ImagesTracy Austin says if Jannik Sinner will be fit to play Ben Shelton<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/tennis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">BBC<\/a>, Austin said of Shelton: \u201cHe played so well. I went over to watch his match before Iga\u2019s. That guy is so physical.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you are so close to the court, I was 20 feet away from him, the intensity level from Shelton! He talks to himself, talks to his box, constantly spurring himself on. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut his footwork, his intensity, his physicality is phenomenal and only going to get better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey asked him with Sinner down a set, you could hear \u2018oh really\u2019!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Sinner\u2019s injury, she said: \u201cJannik is young, I don\u2019t know how bad it is, or if it\u2019s just from that fall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has the day off and in a major you always know you have the day off. That is going to be very helpful for someone who is so young and so fit.
