COURTESY\/ Laura McKenzie, Texas A&amp;M AgriLife<\/p>\n<p>The Texas A&amp;M AgriLife Extension Service office in Bexar County will host the 2026 Beef Cattle Short Course Tuesday, Jan. 13, in San Antonio.\n<\/p>\n<p>The course is scheduled from 3-8:15 p.m. and will be held at the Ozuna Library on the campus of Palo Alto College, 1400 Villaret Blvd. in San Antonio.<\/p>\n<p>Cost is $20 per person, and registration is available by contacting Kennedy Green at the AgriLife Extension office for Bexar County at 210-631-0400 or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilsoncountynews.com\/articles\/beef-cattle-short-course-slated-for-jan-13-in-san-antonio\/mailto:kennedy.green@ag.tamu.edu\" class=\"autohyperlink\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kennedy.green@ag.tamu.edu<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>There will be two Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units offered \u2014 one general and one laws and regulations.\n<\/p>\n<p>A meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. and will feature remarks from Pat Shields, immediate past chair of the Texas Beef Council, on \u201cBuilding a Beef Herd for All Market Seasons.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>T.R. Lansford, DVM, Texas Animal Health Commission deputy executive director and assistant state veterinarian, Bryan-College Station, will provide a New World screwworm update.\n<\/p>\n<p>Sessions\n<\/p>\n<p>The concurrent sessions will begin at 3:30 p.m. Participants should select two when registering.\n<\/p>\n<p>Cow and calf herd health, which will be repeated \u2014 Lansford\n<\/p>\n<p>\u2022DIY spray equipment and pasture weed\/brush control, also repeated \u2014 Megan Clayton, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension range specialist and professor, Texas A&amp;M Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Uvalde\n<\/p>\n<p>\u2022Applicator inspection process and overview \u2014 Vick Alexander, assistant regional director, pesticides, Texas Department of Agriculture, San Antonio.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u2022AgriInsurance-PRF, livestock, annual forage and beyond \u2014 Jake Surman, relationship agent, Capital Farm Credit, Schulenburg.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Audio articles on Wilson County News made possible by C Street Gift Shop in downtown Floresville!
