Two people, including a 17-year-old girl, were killed Monday afternoon after a fight escalated into gunfire at a city park in East Fort Worth, police said.<\/p>\n
Officers were responding to an unrelated call around 2:15 p.m. when they heard shots coming from the 1500 block of Liberty Street. When they arrived, they found a female victim with gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene and was later identified as 17-year-old Cyanna Boone.<\/p>\n
About five minutes later, a second shooting was reported in the 1700 block of Handley Drive. Officers found a victim with a gunshot wound inside a parked car. That person was taken to a hospital and died shortly after arriving, police said.<\/p>\n
Investigators said another person had been in the car but ran from the scene. That individual was later found at a nearby home.<\/p>\n
Detectives believe a group of 15 to 20 people gathered at the park on Liberty Street, where a verbal dispute turned into a physical fight before an unidentified suspect opened fire. Police said they believe the two shootings are connected but do not think there is an ongoing threat to the public.<\/p>\n
The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests had been announced Monday.<\/p>\n
