White (calf tightness) will also watch from the sidelines when the Bulls tackle the Pelicans, as will big man Zach Collins (toe sprain). <\/p>\n
It\u2019s an especially tough blow for Giddey, though, as the fifth-year pro had put himself well and truly in the frame for a maiden All-Star berth. <\/p>\n
The Melburnian had finished 14th among Eastern Conference players in the first All-Star fan voting returns, with polling running through mid-January and an East reserve spot well within reach given his 2025 ascent. <\/p>\n
That dream now looks unlikely, at least this season. <\/p>\n
Meanwhile, in his return from a two-game absence due to a calf strain, Jock Landale offered a mixed bag as he reacclimated to the Memphis Grizzlies rotation. <\/p>\n
The 30-year-old played 18 minutes in the Grizzlies\u2019 three-point overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, scoring six points on 3-7 shooting with three rebounds. <\/p>\n
Landale started on the bench but was inserted into the game just two minutes in, replacing Christian Koloko, and he was immediately charged with matching up against former league MVP Joel Embiid. <\/p>\n
Landale had his first points of the game in the second quarter, still going against the big body of Embiid, who was having an impact on offence. <\/p>\n
As he has throughout this season, the Australian stretched the floor with his ability to shoot from beyond the three-point arc \u2014 despite going 0-3 on Wednesday \u2014 and exhibited his prominence as a solid screener for Memphis\u2019 downhill-driving guards. <\/p>\n
\u201cLandale has shot well on the year; he\u2019s had some good looks tonight, but (you) have to think, coming back from injury, it\u2019ll take him a little bit of time to find the rhythm,\u201d the NBC broadcast noted in the second quarter. <\/p>\n
In a bizarre sequence in the third quarter, Landale had a shot at the rim blocked \u2014 that he believed was goaltending \u2014 before grabbing the rebound and putting it back up and in. <\/p>\n
After the make, a fuming Landale directed some choice words and gestures to the adjudicating referee, who slapped the big man with a technical foul. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe was incensed,\u201d the broadcast described. <\/p>\n
