BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Louisiana State Representative Paula Davis has submitted her letter of resignation.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter thoughtful reflection and with deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve, I respectfully submit my notarized resignation as state representative for House District 69, effective January 9, 2026,\u201d Rep. Davis wrote in the letter.<\/p>\n
District 69 includes the Capital Region. It\u2019s an area that Davis, a Republican, has represented in the Louisiana State House of Representatives since being elected in 2015.<\/p>\n
In the resignation letter, Rep. Davis explained that she is ready for a change.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis decision has not come lightly, but I believe the time is right to step away from public office and embrace the next chapter of my personal and professional life,\u201d Rep. Davis said.<\/p>\n
The state leader also reflected on her time in the state legislature and said she has wanted to deliver results for the residents of Louisiana.<\/p>\n
\u201cPublic service has truly been one of the greatest privileges of my life. From the beginning, I entered the Capitol with a passion for solving problems, a deep commitment to integrity and honesty, and a belief that government can-and must-work efficiently,\u201d Rep. Davis said. <\/p>\n
Rep. Davis said in her resignation letter that she has authored more than 100 bills during her time in the legislature. She added that more than 50 of the bills have become law.<\/p>\n
The state representative said she plans to work with her staff and constituents to ensure a smooth transition.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy heart is full. I am humbled by the support from our district and honored by the recognition I\u2019ve received across business, healthcare, conservative policy, and community service groups,\u201d Rep. Davis explained.<\/p>\n
