Pop. Pop. Pop.” said Jazelle Henderson, who was inside her home when the gunfire erupted.

But as the sounds continued, she realized something was wrong.

“Towards the end of the shooting, the shots got off beat,” Henderson said.

She said the gunfire stopped only after what felt like dozens of rounds.

“I think it was about 40 (shots),” Henderson said. “It was insane.”

When she walked outside toward the park, Henderson said she saw officers rendering aid.

“I saw police on the ground trying to resuscitate somebody,” she said.

Fort Worth police said officers were already nearby responding to an unrelated call when they heard the gunshots and rushed to the park.

“They approached that location and then discovered a deceased person on the street,” Daniel Segura, public information officer for the Fort Worth Police Department, said.

Just minutes later and a few miles away, officers were dispatched to another shooting call in a residential neighborhood. Police found a victim inside a parked car who had been shot at the1700 block of Handley Drive.

“The call came in as a shooting because they saw a car park and somebody got out,” Segura said.

Investigators believe the second shooting is directly connected to what happened at the park.

“Some of the details we gathered yesterday was that that suspect vehicle fled or drove away from the park and ended up on Handley Drive. So, that’s how they are connected,” Segura said.

The second victim was taken to the hospital but later died. That person has not been identified.

According to police, “another occupant from the vehicle fled on foot, he was later located in a residence nearby.”

Police are still investigating a motive and how many shooters may have been involved.

“We don’t know if there was one shooter, maybe two,” Segura said.

As homicide detectives continue to interview witnesses and follow leads, neighbors near the park say the violence has changed how they live.

Henderson said she no longer allows her children to play at the park.

“My kids, they’re often disappointed because I won’t let them go play basketball there,” she said. “This was a staunch reminder that I am making the right decision.”

Anyone with information about the shootings is urged to contact the Fort Worth Police Department at 817-392-4222.

Tips may also be submitted anonymously through Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 469tips.com or 817-469-8477.

Two fatal shootings that unfolded within five minutes of each other in East Fort Worth are now part…

[5138
5229,7371,7372,358,3187,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
0":"post-482420","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-fort-worth","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-fort-worth","10":"tag-fortworth","11":"tag-texas","12":"tag-tx","13":"tag-united-states","14":"tag-united-states-of-america","15":"tag-unitedstates","16":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","17":"tag-us","18":"tag-usa
["GET
