He did identify one area that was a particular issue against Buffalo. “When you look at it, is the amount of drives we had and plays and some of the starting positions, it was the first down thing again,” Patullo said, via a transcript from the team. “We had four drives where we had inefficient first downs, put us in four second-and-longs, and then from that, we were in three third-and-longs. When you’re doing that, when that’s happening, it’s going to be very hard to move the ball. . . . When you look at those drives, it gets frustrating. We need one play. All we need is one spark, one thing to get those things going and we’re out of it.” The lack of production against Buffalo was extreme, but it’s hardly been a one-time event for the Eagles offense over their 16 games so far this season. Patullo was asked if that means this is what the offense is going to be or if they’ll be able to switch into a higher gear in the postseason.

Three reassuring Eagles stats, and three reasons to worry ahead of the NFL playoffs – Inquirer
9.9. Since their Week 9 bye, the Eagles have scored more than 21 points just twice in eight games, and those were against two of the worst teams in football (Commanders and Raiders). This isn’t a high-powered offense, and it’s one that particularly has trouble scoring in the second half. Sunday wasn’t an outlier. The Eagles average just 9.9 second-half points. That’s good for 25th in the NFL. The combined record of the teams below them: 32-80. This was a dominant performance that deserved a comfortable win. This was a cold, ugly game where throwing the ball cleanly was always going to be harder and physicality was going to win out. Against Josh Allen, one of the most physically gifted quarterbacks in football, the defense played fast, violent, disciplined football and never let the Bills’ offense settle. This felt like a unit fully comfortable in its identity, unlike the offense.

NFC Hierarchy/Obituary: Week 18 edition – PhillyVoice
5) Eagles (11-5): The Eagles got a 13-point lead in Buffalo and then they tried to run out the clock for an entire half. They need to win on Sunday and have the Bears lose their finale to the Lions. Getting the two seed would be great. It is easy to forget the Birds were the two seed last year. As hot as they were, the Lions were the top dogs heading into the playoffs. The ability to get to the second seed means Nick Sirianni should play his starters, right? Maybe. There is a real argument for resting key guys. Part of the Eagles secret sauce in 2022 and 2024 was getting to January healthy. They were even able to sit some key guys in Week 18 last year. Every bit of rest can help. The NFL season is a physical grind. As players get worn down, it can affect their performance. One week of rest may not seem like a big deal, but it can make a difference.

Concerning weaknesses, flaws for 2025 NFL playoff teams – ESPN
Philadelphia Eagles. FPI chance to win Super Bowl: 8.5%. Concerning weakness: Quarterback Jalen Hurts facing a blitz. For a long time, this would have been an easy choice to highlight Hurts’ struggles against zone coverage. However, he has played better against zone in recent weeks. For the season, Hurts ranks 16th in DVOA against zone, which compares favorably with his rank of 13th against man coverage. Instead, we should look at how Hurts has had trouble with extra pass rushers. He is 20th in DVOA against the blitz this season — down to 30th if we only look at games since Week 10, with just 6.0 net yards per play. I’m not sure that opponents have gotten the message here. Hurts has faced a 36% blitz rate this season, third in the NFL behind the Ravens’ Lamar Jackson and the Commanders’ Marcus Mariota. However, that rate has actually gone down to 28% since Week 10. Most of the NFC playoff field is not particularly blitz-heavy, with the Buccaneers as the clear exception. But teams such as the Seahawks and Bears might blitz more if they know that’s a weakness for Philadelphia.

‘He’s a freak of nature:’ How did Jalen Carter get so good at blocking kicks? – NBCSP
Jalen Carter is a heck of a pass rusher from the interior defensive line. We all know that. And he’s a heck of a run stuffer. We’ve seen that since he got here. But his talents go way beyond that. Carter has become one of the best kick blockers in the NFL, and we saw it again on Sunday, when he made one of the crucial plays in the Eagles’ 13-12 win over the Bills, blocking Michael Badgley’s PAT attempt following the Bills’ first touchdown. Without that play, the Bills would have had an opportunity to win the game with a PAT after their second touchdown. Instead, they tried a two-point conversation that failed. “I’ve never seen a get off like that from an interior alignment,” Eagles special teams coach Michael Clay said Tuesday. “The only person I could probably see that’s blocked that many kicks in such a short period is Calais Campbell. But (for) him to get past the long snapper then get his hands up with his athletic ability is really awesome to see him right there.” Along with his block of a Joshua Karty field goal attempt in the win over the Rams, Carter is first Eagle to block two kicks in a season since 2017, when Derek Barnett blocked a Robbie Gould field goal in a win over the 49ers at the Linc and an Aldrick Rosas PAT in a win over the Giants at MetLife.

NFL offensive line rankings ahead of Week 18 – PFF
4) Philadelphia Eagles (Up 2). On November 24th this team was sitting at 9-2, fresh off a blowout win against the Buccaneers, and holding a remaining schedule that made it appear like they were going to coast to the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Fast forward five weeks and things are now very, very different. Not only are the Rams 2-3 in their last five games, but they’ve endured two embarassing losses at the hands of the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons. Injuries have played a role, especially with Davante Adams being sidelined — but that still shouldn’t take an elite team like Los Angeles and cast them into the doldrums. It’s unclear if the team took their foot off the gas too early, wanted to save their energy for the playoffs, or simply looked past their weak opponents to tougher competition, but the result is the same either way: The Rams are on the verge of costing themselves much of what they built this season.

Social Media Information:

BGN Facebook Page: Click here to like our page

BGN Twitter: Follow @BleedingGreen

BGN BlueSky: Follow @bleedgreennation.bsky.social

BGN Instagram: Follow @BleedingGreenInsta

BGN Manager: Follow Brandon Lee Gowton on Twitter | BlueSky | Threads

BGN Radio Twitter: Follow @BGN_Radio

[5132
5229,1448,2830,1311,76139,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
0":"post-482825","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-philadelphia","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-pa","10":"tag-pennsylvania","11":"tag-philadelphia","12":"tag-philadelphia-eagles-news","13":"tag-united-states","14":"tag-united-states-of-america","15":"tag-unitedstates","16":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","17":"tag-us","18":"tag-usa
["GET
