No such warning was issued for the five boroughs, though all five were under a heat advisory.<\/p>\n<p>The storm \u201ccontinues to offer at least a <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/product.php?site=NWS&amp;issuedby=OKX&amp;product=AFD&amp;format=CI&amp;version=1&amp;glossary=1&amp;highlight=off\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">10 percent risk of 3 inches [of rain] in 3 hours<\/a> for parts of [northeast New Jersey] late this afternoon,\u201d NWS meteorologists wrote Monday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"This image provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) shows Tropical Storm Chantal as it moves from South Carolina into central North Carolina on Sunday, July 6, 2025. (NOAA via AP)<\/p>\n<p>In the city, scattered storms were expected to continue from Monday morning through Tuesday night, with pockets of heavier rain in certain places. The <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/MapClick.php?x=99&amp;y=187&amp;site=okx&amp;zmx=&amp;zmy=&amp;map_x=99&amp;map_y=187\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chance of precipitation in Central Park<\/a> remains above 50% until Wednesday morning, according to NWS forecasts.<\/p>\n<p>Even though the remnants from Chantal are predicted to head out to sea after Monday\u2019s precipitation, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/tropical-storm-chantal-remnants-weather-nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new system is expected to quickly take the former cyclone\u2019s place<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeep tropical moisture remains in place ahead of the front, and showers and thunderstorms look to develop once again into the afternoon hours,\u201d NWS experts predicted for Tuesday\u2019s forecast. \u201cThe main concern will once again be torrential downpours and localized flash flooding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"Heavy rains and strong winds passed through Coney Island resulting in people with umbrellas struggling against the wind and some beachgoers taking shelter, as others just took it in stride in Brooklyn on Sunday June 22, 2025. 1043. (Theodore Parisienne \/ New York Daily News)<\/p>\n<p>Chantal formed off the coast of Jacksonville, Fla., on July 4 and eventually reached tropical storm strength on July 6, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/ilm\/Chantal2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">making landfall near Litchfield Beach, S.C<\/a>. The storm\u2019s worst impacts were felt in North Carolina, where one woman was killed in heavy rainfall on a road in Chatham County.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, multiple tornadoes were reported, and one was confirmed in Wilmington.
