{"id":483115,"date":"2025-12-31T20:01:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T20:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/483115\/"},"modified":"2025-12-31T20:01:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T20:01:10","slug":"celebrity-golf-tournament-coming-to-myrtle-beach-benefiting-nonprofit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/483115\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrity golf tournament coming to Myrtle Beach benefiting nonprofit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) &#8211; A new celebrity tournament is making its way to the golf capital of the world. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Major NFL, MLB and NBA alumni will make their way to Myrtle Beach in the spring for the Champions Fore Autism Celebrity Classic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Teams of four will be paired with current and former athletes like Jim McMahon, Ray Rice, Doug Flutie and Zay Flowers to hit the green at Legends Golf Resort.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Each dollar raised will go toward Surfside Beach-based nonprofit <a href=\"https:\/\/championautismnetwork.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Champion Autism Network<\/a>, which provides inclusive fun experiences for individuals and families with autism. The organization has also helped put Myrtle Beach on the map as an autism-friendly travel destination and has earned national recognition, featured in Emmy-nominated series Traveling the Spectrum on Peacock. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">While the tournament will be closed to the public, fans will still have the chance to interact with celebrities at events at local hot spots like Riptydz, Vizionz, popstroke and Crocodile Rocks. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The classic\u2019s co-chairman, Don Emery, said he hopes the event will become a staple in the Grand Strand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019re focusing on having a successful event and turning this into a legacy event,\u201d Emery said. \u201cAny money we raise is certainly gonna help but we\u2019re looking for that year two, year three, year four, that positive return where people are looking forward to it every year and really showcasing the beach and what it does.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">CAN founder Becky Large said with the money raised, they hope to create more programs for teenagers and adults who have grown up with CAN and that the classic will help expand their reach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s about awareness and being able to amplify that message,\u201d Large said. \u201cWe\u2019re hoping that the players who come and the supporters who will be a team of four get to be paired with celebrities, and the celebrities are coming from all over. We want them to take CAN with them and promote the organization, so that\u2019s what we\u2019re really looking forward to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The cost of the tournament is $2,000 per foursome, and you can register by clicking <a href=\"https:\/\/birdease.com\/33583\/oursupporters\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The tournament takes place April 23rd and 24th.
