Donald Trump<\/a> tore into George Clooney<\/a> on Wednesday, accusing the actor of being a failed movie star and one of the \u201cworst political prognosticators of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cClooney got more publicity for politics than he did for his very few, and totally mediocre, movies,\u201d Trump wrote<\/a> on Truth Social, while referencing how Clooney \u201cdumped\u201d Joe Biden by urging the former president to drop out of the 2024 election.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wasn\u2019t a movie star at all, he was just an average guy who complained, constantly, about common sense in politics,\u201d Trump<\/a> added in the post.<\/p>\n

The president also criticized the news that Clooney and his wife, the human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, have recently gained French citizenship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The comments came after Clooney opened up in a recent magazine profile about his past acquaintance with Trump and shared criticisms of news outlets like CBS and ABC for settling lawsuits<\/a> with the Republican.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew him very well,\u201d the Jay Kelly star told Variety<\/a>. \u201cHe used to call me a lot, and he tried to help me get into a hospital once to see a back surgeon. I\u2019d see him out at clubs and at restaurants. He\u2019s a big goofball. Well, he was. That all changed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf CBS and ABC had challenged those lawsuits and said, \u2018Go f*** yourself,\u2019 we wouldn\u2019t be where we are in the country,\u201d Clooney added. \u201cThat\u2019s simply the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clooney and Trump have long traded criticisms and commentary in public.<\/p>\n

Trump has long criticized Clooney, who is an outspoken progressive activist and major supporter of the Democratic Party (X\/@mmpadellan)<\/p>\n

This summer, Clooney whose stage adaptation this year of his film Good Night, And Good Luck made pointed commentary about contemporary media and politics, said \u201ceverybody\u201d worries about being targeted by Trump\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut you know, if you spend your life worrying about things, then you won\u2019t do things,\u201d he told<\/a> CNN\u2019s Anderson Cooper.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be able to look at my kids in the eye and say where we stood and what we did at certain times in history, and I have no problem with that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Trump, for his part, regularly trashes his old friend Clooney.<\/p>\n

George and his wife Amal Clooney recently gained citizenship in France, where they are raising their children, a decision the actor has said is motivated by a desire to give them a more normal life outside of Hollywood (AP)<\/p>\n

The president fumed<\/a> after Clooney<\/a> gave a 60 Minutes<\/a> interview earlier this year, claiming that the \u201cfailed political pundit\u201d dumped former President Joe Biden \u201clike a dog.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, after the Biden incident, Trump accused<\/a> Clooney of being a \u201cvery disloyal backstabber\u201d <\/a>and a \u201cthird-rate movie actor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clooney is among the highest-grossing movie stars in the country<\/a>, and his films have raked in over $2 billion over the course of his career.<\/p>\n
