It could stay open if he can find a new location or a buyer for the business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The sub shop across the street from Southern Methodist University has been open since the 1970s. As University Park and nearby Snider Plaza have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2022\/10\/19\/7-restaurants-in-one-dallas-hot-spot-hudson-house-ceo-invests-big-in-snider-plaza\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2022\/10\/19\/7-restaurants-in-one-dallas-hot-spot-hudson-house-ceo-invests-big-in-snider-plaza\/\">grown up over the years<\/a>, New York Sub was one of the few longtime restaurants that didn\u2019t change much, alongside charming veterans like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2020\/08\/06\/comfort-during-covid-bubbas-fried-chicken-restaurant-is-the-hottest-drive-thru-in-dallas-right-now\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2020\/08\/06\/comfort-during-covid-bubbas-fried-chicken-restaurant-is-the-hottest-drive-thru-in-dallas-right-now\/\">Bubba\u2019s<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2025\/05\/14\/5-favorite-classic-burger-joints-in-dallas-fort-worth\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2025\/05\/14\/5-favorite-classic-burger-joints-in-dallas-fort-worth\/\">Burger House<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s emotional,\u201d Kelley said of the possible closure. \u201cI\u2019m trying to keep everything together for my family, but I\u2019m scared. Other classics are Kelley\u2019s smoked brisket pastrami sandwich, the French dip and the Italian. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Do as the locals do and grab a bag of chips, a soft drink and a cookie with your sub.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The building was recently purchased by brothers and Dallas real estate investors Pasha and Sina Heidari. Kelley said the new owners have been nice, but he was \u201cblindsided\u201d that the restaurant was even for sale.
