CHICAGO (WLS) — A driver is in custody after leading Chicago police on a chase and crashing into a CPD van on the city’s West Side early Thursday morning, officials said.<\/p>\n

Police said officers on routine patrol saw a vehicle that matched the description of a wanted car in the Lawndale neighborhood’s 3800-block of West Harrison Street just after 3 a.m.<\/p>\n

When officers tried to stop the car, police said, the driver tried to flee and struck a CPD van. The driver then tried to flee on foot but was taken into custody.<\/p>\n

The driver was taken to a local hospital for injuries suffered during the crash.<\/p>\n

Two officers were taken to a local hospital and have since been treated and released.<\/p>\n

Investigators recovered a weapon, and charges are pending.<\/p>\n

Police did not immediately provide further information.<\/p>\n
