Mayor Zohran Mamdani introduced his pick to lead the city\u2019s Department of Transportation minutes after he was sworn in at midnight Thursday.<\/p>\n

Michael Flynn spent nine years at the city DOT before becoming a transit consultant.<\/p>\n

Flynn likely faces the task of helping fulfill one of Mamdani\u2019s biggest campaign promises: fast and free buses.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know first-hand that New York City DOT has some of the most passionate, talented and committed public servants in the country, if not the world, and they are ready to think big and deliver big on our ambitious agenda,\u201d Flynn said.<\/p>\n

Mamdani had announced five additional members of his administration on Wednesday, including Kamar Samuels to serve as the city\u2019s next schools chancellor.<\/a><\/p>\n
