Attempt to render aid ended with tragedy after woman was pinned between vehicles during a chaotic New Year\u2019s Day collision near Beaverton<\/p>\n
A 47-year-old woman suffered serious life-altering injuries after trying to help those involved in a three-vehicle collision in Beaverton on New Year’s Day.<\/p>\n
Durham Regional Police say the woman stopped to help the driver a Dodge minivan that had left the roadway on Regiona Road 23, north of Thorah Concession Road 2.<\/p>\n
“While attempting to render assistance, the female was struck and pinned against her Dodge pick-up truck by a Mazda sedan travelling northbound on Regional Road 23,” notes a media release.<\/p>\n
After striking the female and pick-up truck, the Mazda collided with the Dodge minivan, before coming to a stop in a ditch.<\/p>\n
The 47-year-old woman\u00a0was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre by Air ORNGE, where she remains in stable condition. The driver of the Mazda remained on scene and cooperated with police.<\/p>\n
Members of the Durham Regional Police collision investigation unit have since taken over the investigation. The cause of this collision remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
