However,<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.football.london\/tottenham-hotspur-fc\/news\/tottenham-player-ratings-vs-brentford-33152620\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" rel=\"follow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\"> Frank&#8217;s return to Brentford ended goalless with little drama.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">However, things could have been different had Romero been shown a straight red card. Referee Andy Madley decided not to send the defender off for a potential denial of a goal-scoring opportunity in the second half.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The incident was reviewed by the video assistant referee (VAR), and the on-field decision remained unchanged. Due to the nature of the challenge, VAR briefly put the game on hold as they examined the footage further for a &#8220;dangerous&#8221; tackle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">In the end, it was decided that a yellow card for the Argentine defender was the correct one. Taking to X to clear up the decision, the Premier League Match Centre wrote: &#8220;The referee&#8217;s call of yellow card to Romero was checked and confirmed by VAR &#8211; with it deemed a reckless challenge.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Following the goalless draw on Thursday, Brentford boss Keith Andrews insisted he thought Romero should have been sent off for a foul on Thiago. He said: &#8220;It should have been a red card and he should have had a red card in the first game 26 days ago for a scissors tackle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Brentford had scored earlier in the game through Kevin Schade inside the first 10 minutes, but the German attacker was deemed to be in an offside position. However, Madley waved away the protests, and VAR stuck with the decision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Frank threw on Randal Kolo Muani and Mathys Tel in an attempt to win against his former team, but the attackers were unable to make a difference.
