The voice of Indiana Hoosiers sports called out Paul Finebaum during the No. 1 Indiana\u2019s 38-3 win over Alabama in the College Football Playoffs on New Year\u2019s Day in the Rose Bowl. <\/p>\n

The Indy Star <\/a>reports Don Fischer, who has called Indiana sports for more than 50 years, reacted to Kaelon Black\u2019s 25-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter to give Indiana a 31-3 lead with a, \u201cWhat are you thinking now, Paul Finebaum?\u201d <\/p>\n

Finebaum picked Alabama leading up to the game<\/a>, admitting he was \u201cswinging for the fences,\u201d despite labeling them as \u201chard to love.\u201d<\/p>\n

He cited the resiliency of the team during the meat of the schedule when the Tide rolled through top 25 opponents, then rallying to beat Oklahoma in Norman in the first round of the CFP.<\/p>\n

That wasn\u2019t the case on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Ty Simpson struggled to create big plays against Indiana\u2019s stout defense, going 12 of 16 for 67 yards and running for 17 yards with a lost fumble. The desperation to keep up with Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza had Alabama going for it on fourth down from its own 34 early in the second quarter, leading to an odd Wildcat pop pass that was stopped short.<\/p>\n

Austin Mack, who followed head coach Kalen DeBoer from Washington to Alabama before the 2024 season, took over late in the third quarter and managed a field goal on his first drive. That was as much as the third-year sophomore could muster, ending up 11 of 16 for 103 yards with three sacks.<\/p>\n
