Will Ferrell was ready to dish out some penalties during an NHL game on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The famed actor was spotted in the stands at Crypto.com Arena decked out in full NHL referee gear midway through the Kings\u2019 matchup against the Lightning.<\/p>\n
The video board panned to Ferrell \u2014 who was wearing the officials\u2019 signature black and white striped shirt and a black helmet \u2014 as he was calling penalties from outside the glass.<\/p>\n

After being shown on the big screen, the FanDuel Sports Network broadcast came down to Ferrell\u2019s seats, and asked him what he was doing in a ref\u2019s uniform.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve always been in support of the NHL referees,\u201d Ferrell answered<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ferrell then seemingly joked about the two referees on the ice, Brandon Schrader and Francis Charron, claiming that he helped teach them.<\/p>\n \u201cIn fact, I trained two of the guys out here \u2014 they are two of my prized students, Brandon and Francis. NHLI via Getty Images<\/p>\n Ferrell, who is known to be a diehard Kings fan and has season tickets, has been spotted in the stands wearing costumes before<\/a>, as he was seen dressed as his character, Buddy, from the 2003 comedy movie \u201cElf\u201d during a 2024 game against the Flyers.<\/p>\n During that game, Ferrell was spotted pouting in the stands with a cigarette in his mouth and a beer in his hand. He explained his choices behind wearing the outfit during an episode of Travis and Jason Kelce\u2019s<\/a> \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast in January 2025.<\/p>\n \u201cBuddy the Elf got laid off, I think, from the North Pole,\u201d Ferrell joked on the podcast then<\/a>. \u201cHe\u2019s having a pull from his beer, smoking a cig. That was just\u2026I get these weird ideas every now and then.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re season ticket holders for the L.A. Kings.
