Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Thursday (January 1, 2025) said the national capital recorded its best air quality in eight years in 2025.<\/p>\n

PM2.5 levels declined from 104 micrograms per cubic metre in 2024 to 96 micrograms per cubic metre in 2025, while PM10 levels fell from 212 to 197 micrograms per cubic metre during the same period, he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cDelhiites gave us the mandate to serve, and we made clean air our foremost pledge. The record number of good AQI days in 2025 proves that science-led action works wonders,\u201d the Minister said. According to an official statement, Delhi recorded around 200 days in 2025 when the air quality index (AQI) remained below 200, marking an improvement of about 15% compared with the previous four years.<\/p>\n

Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 17.3 degrees Celsius on Thursday (January 1), two degrees below the seasonal normal. The maximum temperature was recorded at the Safdarjung observatory, considered representative of Delhi\u2019s weather. At Lodhi Road, the maximum temperature was 15.8 degrees Celsius, 5.2 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature at Safdarjung was 10.6 degrees Celsius, 3.7 degrees above the normal. <\/p>\n
