There were tennis tournaments, wine dinners, fashion shows, and other festivities, marking milestones and demonstrating once again the city\u2019s dedication to supporting its own.<\/p>\n<p>Read on for Houston&#8217;s 10 hottest society headlines of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>1.<a href=\"https:\/\/houston.culturemap.com\/news\/society\/richard-nancy-kinder-donation-plans\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"> <strong>Houston billionaires will donate almost entire fortune to charity<\/strong><\/a><strong>. <\/strong>Houston billionaire philanthropists Rich and Nancy Kinder made headlines when they told ABC 13\u2019s Melanie Lawson that they would give away 95 percent of their fortune. Longtime supporters of education, civic life, and the arts, the Kinders have been donors to several Houston charities and institutions, including the<a href=\"https:\/\/khspva.houstonisd.org\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/houston.culturemap.com\/news\/city-life\/emancipation-park-stage-cultural-center-upgrades\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Emancipation Park<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/kinder.rice.edu\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Rice University<\/a>, where a center for urban research is named for them.<\/p>\n<p>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/houston.culturemap.com\/news\/society\/bb-butchers-tenth-anniversary-party\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Top Houston steakhouse toasts 10 years with a mayoral proclamation<\/strong><\/a><strong>. <\/strong>When the Washington Avenue steakhouse <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbbutchers.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">B&amp;B Butchers<\/a> celebrated its 10th anniversary back in October, it did so with a bash that included fine dining, live music, and killer views of downtown from the upstairs terrace. Cocktails in Bloom draws a colorful crowd of Houstonians<\/strong><\/a><strong>. <\/strong>Nearly 200 supporters gathered for the fourth annual Cocktails in Bloom event at Lost Lake in June, a benefit for the <a href=\"https:\/\/buffalobayou.org\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Buffalo Bayou Partnership<\/a>. From the color-splashed cocktail hour, to a live auction that included a six-night escape to a riverfront condo near Beaver Creek, the event raised a record-breaking $207,000 for the organization.<\/p>\n<p>6. <a href=\"https:\/\/houston.culturemap.com\/news\/society\/texas-childrens-salute-champions-luncheon\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Houston survivors shine at Texas Children\u2019s Salute to Champions luncheon<\/strong><\/a><strong>. <\/strong>Runway radiance took center stage at The Revaire in October for the 14th Annual Salute to Champions Luncheon and Fashion Show. The event was a fundraiser for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texaschildrens.org\/departments\/cancer-and-hematology-center\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Texas Children\u2019s Cancer and Hematology Center<\/a>.
