{"id":487381,"date":"2026-01-02T15:37:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-02T15:37:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/487381\/"},"modified":"2026-01-02T15:37:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-02T15:37:10","slug":"paul-mccartney-on-beatles-movie-hamnet-gladiator-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/487381\/","title":{"rendered":"Paul McCartney On Beatles Movie, Hamnet &#038; Gladiator II"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/paul-mescal\/\" id=\"auto-tag_paul-mescal\" data-tag=\"paul-mescal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul Mescal<\/a> wants to keep his head down until he emerges in cinemas in 2028 playing Paul McCartney. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSpeaking to The Guardian to promote his new movie <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-history-of-sound\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-history-of-sound\" data-tag=\"the-history-of-sound\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The History of Sound<\/a> while he simultaneously does press for Chlo\u00e9 Zhao\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/hamnet\/\" id=\"auto-tag_hamnet\" data-tag=\"hamnet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hamnet<\/a>, Mescal said, \u201cPeople will get a break from me and I\u2019ll get a break from them,\u201d over the next couple of years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019m five or six years into this now, and I feel very lucky. But I\u2019m also learning that I don\u2019t think I can go on doing it as much,\u201d said Mescal, who was Oscar nominated for 2022\u2019s Aftersun and broke out in Normal People.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHe said indie movies like Oliver Hermanus\u2019 History of Sound, in which Mescal and Josh O\u2019Connor play two men who travel together recording folk songs in 1920, \u201ctake more out of the well\u201d than one might think.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMescal said he is \u201cmost comfortable\u201d making movies like History of Sound over the likes of Gladiator II, in which he played the lead. \u201cI was 90 kilos and I had eight weeks to get down to 78 kilos [for History of Sound],\u201d he told The Guardian. \u201cIt was a real headf**k. I loved the process of making that film but The History of Sound felt like home to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOnce awards season is out the way, Mescal\u2019s next slated movie is Sam Mendes\u2019 untitled 2028 <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/beatles-movie\/\" id=\"auto-tag_beatles-movie\" data-tag=\"beatles-movie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beatles movie<\/a> in which <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/gallery\/the-beatles-a-fab-four-film-event-movie-cast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he will play Paul McCartney<\/a>.
