Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu brushed aside Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani\u2019s threat to arrest him as \u201csilly\u201d and teased plans to swing through New York City in defiance of the socialist\u2019s warning.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not concerned about that,\u201d Netanyahu told reporters in the Blue Room\u00a0of the White House\u00a0on Monday evening during his meeting with President Trump.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s enough\u00a0craziness in the world, but I guess it never ends. This is folly and it\u2019s silly in many ways,\u201d the prime minister continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to come there with President Trump and we\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump then quipped, \u201cI\u2019ll get him out\u201d during Netanyahu\u2019s response to the Mamdani question.<\/p>\n

Last year, Mamdani told Zeteo that he would not welcome Netanyahu to New York City in light of the International Criminal Court\u2019s warrant for Netanyahu\u2019s\u00a0and former\u00a0Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant\u2019s\u00a0arrest.\u00a0The ICC issued those warrants\u00a0last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo. As mayor, New York City would arrest Benjamin Netanyahu. This is a city that our values are in line with international law. It\u2019s time that our actions are also,\u201d Mamdani told Zeteo\u2019s editor-in-chief Mehdi Hasan last December.<\/p>\n

\u00a0After Netanyahu shrugged off Mamdani\u2019s threat, Trump then publicly assured the Israeli prime minister that he had nothing to worry about under his watch.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s going to be very fine. And we\u00a0don\u2019t know who the mayor is going to be yet, but this is a communist. He\u2019s not a socialist. He\u2019s a communist, and he\u2019s said some really bad things about Jewish people,\u201d Trump said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he\u2019s said some really bad things about a lot of people. And I think he\u2019s going through a bit of a honeymoon right now but he might make it.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s going to behave,\u201d Trump added, referring to Mamdani. \u201cHe\u2019ll behave. He better behave. Otherwise, he\u2019s going to have big problems.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump also re-upped his threat to leverage federal aid to New York City if Mamdani crosses the line.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Post contacted Mamdani\u2019s campaign for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mamdani, a self-described Democratic socialist, had scored an upset victory against former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) in last month\u2019s Democratic primary. Now he is set to square off against incumbent Mayor Adams in the general election, where he is generally seen as the frontrunner.<\/p>\n

The Queens assemblyman has long been a fierce critic of Israel and Netanyahu, particularly concerning the war in the Gaza Strip and the treatment of the Palestinian people.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mamdani has publicly rejected the notion that Israel is the Jewish state,\u00a0noting that he\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0\u201cnot comfortable supporting any state that has a hierarchy of citizenship on the basis of religion or anything else.\u201d<\/p>\n

New York City has the largest Jewish population, with 1.4 million, of any city in the world. It also has a rapidly growing Muslim population.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Netanyahu visited Trump at the White House on Monday for the third time in the past six months, weeks after the two teamed up against Iran and amid delicate negotiations for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While addressing the Mamdani drama, Netanyahu also referenced his answer to a prior question about whether he is open to a two-state solution.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter October 7th, people said the Palestinians had a state, Hamas state in Gaza, and look what they did with it.\u00a0They didn\u2019t build it up,\u201d\u00a0the Israeli prime minister said.<\/p>\n
