The unconventional plans were made public in advance, but seeing them actually unfold beneath the tiled walls and flickering station lights was something else entirely.<\/p>\n<p>The midnight oath was the first beat of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/news\/mayor-elect-mamdani-is-throwing-a-massive-block-party-to-celebrate-his-january-2026-inauguration-122225\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a full inauguration day<\/a> that later unfolded above ground with a public ceremony and Broadway-style street celebration.
