LeBron James’ agent has issued a clear statement about his client’s NBA future.<\/p>\n

On the Game Over podcast this week, Max Kellerman asked Rich Paul directly about rumors linking James with a shocking move to the Golden State Warriors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Ringer’s Bill Simmons on Monday propagated this trade as one that would make the league “more fun.” James and Stephen Curry would finally team up, while the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> would receive Jimmy Butler to help fix their ailing defense.<\/p>\n

Paul, though, wasted no time shutting down the speculation about James’ future in the purple and gold.<\/p>\n

“It’s not going to happen,” Paul told Kellerman<\/a>, refusing to get drawn into “fantasy basketball.”<\/p>\n

“I don’t like to get into that. It’s not going to happen, so why are we talking about things that aren’t going to happen?” Paul said.<\/p>\n

“Listen, I’m not doing any of that. You and Bill can play fantasy basketball all you want. You can do that about anyone in the league.”<\/p>\n

It’s no secret that James, who turned 41 on Tuesday, is no longer central to the Lakers’ plans as a franchise. Luka Doncic has become the No. 1 option in Los Angeles, and his co-existence with James has been a topic of great debate and fascination since the Lakers swiped him from the Dallas Mavericks<\/a> 11 months ago.<\/p>\n

Paul would not commit to any path for James’ future. The NBA’s all-time leading scorer is a free agent at the end of the season, and he has never been traded at any point in his 23-year career. He has played only 15 of the Lakers’ 31 games this season and is averaging a career-low 20.3 points per game.<\/p>\n
