After reports of malfunctioning sensors, users are now complaining about unusual battery drain. The situation has reached the point where Samsung may have quietly pulled the update from its servers.

Samsung may have pulled the One UI 8 Watch update for the Galaxy Watch 4

The Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch is the final major OS release for the Galaxy Watch 4 series. Samsung began the rollout a couple of weeks ago, gradually expanding it worldwide. However, as more users updated, issues began to surface. Early reports indicated that One UI 8 Watch broke wrist detection on the Watch 4 Classic, effectively blocking other features that rely on wrist detection.

The number of reports has increased substantially in recent days, suggesting that the issue is fairly widespread. Moreover, some users are complaining about heavy battery drain and broken AOD (always-on display). While the Classic model seems to be more affected, some vanilla Watch 4 users are also facing issues. Perhaps problems exist across the lineup, but users with a Watch 4 Classic are more vocal about them.

Samsung has not yet issued an official statement acknowledging these problems. However, Digital Trends reports that the company may have temporarily paused the One UI 8 Watch rollout for the Galaxy Watch 4 series. The update is reportedly no longer showing up for some users who hadn’t installed it earlier, suggesting a quiet withdrawal rather than a public suspension.

If you’ve already installed One UI 8 Watch on your Galaxy Watch 4 or Watch 4 Classic, there’s no need to panic. While the issues are inconvenient, they’re likely software-related. Samsung is expected to roll out a follow-up update to address the battery drain and sensor failures once the problems are fully diagnosed.
