Ozzy Osbourne<\/a> and Axl Rose<\/a> met for the first time at Black Sabbath<\/a>\u2019s final live show. Check out what each had to say about the moment below.<\/p>\n

Taking place on Saturday night (July 5), the performance was held at Villa Park in Birmingham and marked the final farewell for the heavy metal pioneers. At the show, founding members\u00a0Osbourne, Tony Iommi<\/a>, Geezer Butler<\/a> and Bill Ward performed together for the first time since 2005, and they were joined by a star-studded line-up.<\/p>\n

Rage Against The Machine\u2019s Tom Morello served as musical director<\/a>, and actor Jason Momoa hosted the event<\/a> \u2013 as well as making headlines after starting a moshpit during Pantera\u2019s set<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Those performing alongside Sabbath included Metallica<\/a>, Slayer<\/a>, Pantera<\/a>, Alice In Chains<\/a>, Gojira<\/a>, Anthrax<\/a>, Guns N\u2019 Roses<\/a>, KoRn<\/a>, Tool<\/a>, Aerosmith\u2019s Steven Tyler<\/a>, and many more.<\/p>\n

For Guns N\u2019 Roses\u2019 appearance, the addition to the line-up marked the first time that frontman Axl Rose had the chance to meet Ozzy Osbourne. After the event, both the Prince Of Darkness and the \u2018November Rain\u2019 singer were quick to share what the occasion meant to them.<\/p>\n

Ozzy shared a photo of the two of them backstage and described the GNR singer as a \u201clegend\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy first time meeting Axl Rose, at my age you don\u2019t get to meet many legends, seriously an utter gentleman,\u201d he shared in one post, then sharing another that showed him alongside Axl Rose and guitarist Slash.<\/p>\n

For Rose, he shared his own thoughts on meeting the heavy metal veteran in a post on X\/Twitter, saying that he was grateful to be part of the \u201cemotional\u201d and \u201cgreat\u201d event in Birmingham.<\/p>\n

\u201cWow!! What an EVENT!! Extremely overwhelming!! Really great crowd!! Was very emotional for everyone,\u201d he began. \u201cMET OZZY!! (Crazy we\u2019d never met b4!!) He was really great!! Was great to meet Sabbath!!\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cWas hard as I imagine for anyone to watch [Ozzy\u2019s] struggles while at the same time everyone was rooting for him n\u2019 massively respecting the challenges he took on n\u2019 HE DID IT!!!!<\/p>\n

\u201cWas great to meet Ozzy\u2019s family n\u2019 see friends n\u2019 peeps in all bands n\u2019 the business. A HUGE THANK YOU again to Ozzy, Sharon, Black Sabbath n\u2019 all the fans for having us!!\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cstruggles\u201d he mentions relate to the health issues the \u2018Fairies Wear Boots\u2019 singer has battled in recent years, meaning he hasn\u2019t played a full show since 2018.\u00a0 These include him undergoing multiple surgeries<\/a> for various ailments, and struggling with Parkinson\u2019s disease<\/a>. For these reasons, he had to perform the final show while seated.<\/p>\n

At the event, Guns N\u2019 Roses paid tribute to the iconic metal band by covering four of their songs: \u2018It\u2019s Alright\u2019, \u2018Never Say Die\u2019, \u2018Junior\u2019s Eyes\u2019, and \u2018Sabbath Bloody Sabbath\u2019. They then also broke out two of their own classic tracks, \u2018Welcome to the Jungle\u2019 and \u2018Paradise City\u2019.<\/p>\n

Other standout moments of Saturday\u2019s show included Tool\u2019s Danny Carey, Blink-182\u2019s Travis Barker and Red Hot Chili Peppers\u2019 Chad Smith taking part in a drum-off<\/a> while covering Sabbath\u2019s \u2018Symptom Of The Universe\u2019. They were also joined by Tom Morello, bassist Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot<\/a>, Ozzy Osbourne\u2019s solo material), and Extreme<\/a> guitarist Nuno Bettencourt.<\/p>\n

As well as that, Morello, Steven Tyler, Travis Barker and The Rolling Stones\u2019 Ronnie Wood came together to cover Led Zeppelin<\/a>, and Yungblud led another supergroup in a version of \u2018Changes\u2019<\/a>, which they dedicated to the late footballer Diogo Jota.<\/p>\n
