The family of Victoria Jones, the daughter of\u00a0actor Tommy Lee Jones, has released a statement following her tragic death at the age of 34<\/a> on New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time,\u201d said the family in a statement to Rolling Stone on Friday.<\/p>\n

Jones was reportedly found unresponsive at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco on Jan. 1. A cause of death has not yet been given, though in police dispatch audio obtained by\u00a0People<\/a>, the call for the incident was classified as \u201ccode three,\u201d suggesting a possible drug overdose.<\/p>\n

The San Francisco Fire Department confirmed in a statement shared with\u00a0Rolling Stone that it responded to a \u201creport of a medical emergency\u201d at the hotel around 2:52 a.m. on New Year\u2019s Day. \u201cUpon arrival, paramedics from the fire department performed an assessment,\u201d the statement read. \u201cThe person was declared deceased.\u201d<\/p>\n

Victoria was one of two children Jones had with his second wife, Kimberlea Cloughley. The couple were married from 1981 to 1996 and also had a son, Austin, who is 43.\u00a0Victoria appeared alongside her father in several of his films, including a cameo in Men in Black II and appeared in\u00a0The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada<\/a>, which Jones directed.<\/p>\n

During a 2006 interview with The New Yorker<\/a>, Jones praised his daughter, who played a young Mexican girl in his film and was 14 at the time. \u201cShe\u2019s a good actress, has her\u00a0SAG\u00a0card, speaks impeccable Spanish,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen she was a baby, I told Leticia, her nurse, to speak to her in Spanish.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also recalled firing Victoria at the time, after she had trouble with the early morning set times as a kid. \u201cShe had to get up at 5\u00a0A.M. for her part. One morning, she wouldn\u2019t get out of bed. I said, \u2018Honey, this is work.\u2019 But she wouldn\u2019t budge. So I fired her,\u201d he said. \u201cThen, without telling me, the production staff went over and woke her and rushed her out to the set just in time.\u201d<\/p>\n
