American Mattress, a well-known furniture chain based in suburban Chicago with nearly 100 stores across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Florida and Missouri, has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, a petition filed with the U.S. Department of Justice showed. <\/p>\n
The mattress store filed for Chapter 11 protection Sunday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, the petition said. The filing which lists both assets and liabilities between $1 million and $10 million, is under American Mattress’ corporate name, AFM Mattress Company LLC, with an address listed in Elk Grove Village.<\/p>\n
According to the website, American Mattress was founded in 1988 in the Chicago area and remains family owned and operated. The mattress and furniture brand carries a variety of mattresses and other bedding, including pillows, bed frames, sheets and more. <\/p>\n
“The sleep industry has changed over the past 30 years, but the American Mattress brand has never wavered from its original beginnings and remains a symbol for unmatched customer service and the highest quality product offerings,” the website said. <\/p>\n
