One person is dead and another is critically injured after crashing into a utility pole<\/a> during a police chase early Saturday morning, Fort Worth police<\/a> said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Around 2:40 a.m. officers observed a vehicle driving the wrong way on Exchange Avenue. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, and the occupants failed to comply, made a u-turn and fled the location, the statement said.<\/p>\n

Police shared the vehicle\u2019s information with officers in the area. Minutes later, it was located, and another official attempted a traffic stop.<\/p>\n

The vehicle fled again, lost control and crashed into a utility pole near the 1500 block of East 4th Street, the statement said. <\/p>\n

An unresponsive passenger was extracted from the vehicle, and after receiving medical aid from officers, was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

The driver was transported to a hospital. As of Saturday afternoon, the driver remains in critical condition.<\/p>\n
