{"id":490787,"date":"2026-01-04T02:35:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T02:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/490787\/"},"modified":"2026-01-04T02:35:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-04T02:35:11","slug":"vietnam-veterans-memorial-replica-stopping-at-surprise-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/490787\/","title":{"rendered":"Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica stopping at Surprise park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX \u2014 A three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam\u00a0Veterans Memorial is making a stop in Surprise this spring on its national tour.<\/p>\n<p>The Wall That Heals will be at Mark Coronado Park,<a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/JegwkB5At34xGEMG9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> located near Bullard Avenue and Bell Road<\/a>, from April 9 to 12.<\/p>\n<p>The memorial will be open 24 hours each day (until it closes at 2 p.m. on the final day) and will be free for the public to access.<\/p>\n<p>The Wall spans 375 feet in length and stands 7.5 feet high at its tallest point and displays the names of the 58,281 men and women who died or went missing in action during the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHosting The Wall That Heals is deeply meaningful to our community,\u201d Surprise Mayor Kevin Sartor said in a release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt allows us to honor the bravery of those who never returned home, and to create a place of connection, remembrance and healing for all who visit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vvmf.org\/The-Wall-That-Heals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">national tour<\/a> will visit 31 total places in 2026. The Wall conveniently fits inside a 53-foot trailer, which converts into the mobile Education Center. The Education Center features various exhibits about the Vietnam War and the creation of the memorial.<\/p>\n<p>The Education Center will also honor local service members whose names appear on the Wall and veterans who returned and later died.\u00a0Historical timelines, personal artifacts left at the Wall, educational videos and more will be displayed at the Wall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe\u00a0Vietnam\u00a0Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) is pleased to bring The Wall That Heals to Surprise to allow local\u00a0veterans and their family members a chance to experience The Wall,\u201d Jim Knotts, president and CEO of VVMF, said in a release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHosting The Wall That Heals\u00a0provides an opportunity to honor and remember all those who served and sacrificed in the\u00a0Vietnam\u00a0War and educate visitors on the continuing impact of the\u00a0Vietnam\u00a0War on America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Wall That Heals is the only traveling exhibit connected to the Washington, D.C. memorial and has made more than 800 stops across the country, as well as Canada and Ireland.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/veenstra_david\" data-show-count=\"false\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Follow @veenstra_david<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We want to hear from you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px;\">Have a story idea or tip?
