{"id":490957,"date":"2026-01-04T04:17:15","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T04:17:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/490957\/"},"modified":"2026-01-04T04:17:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-04T04:17:15","slug":"timberwolves-125-115-heat-jan-3-2026-game-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/490957\/","title":{"rendered":"Timberwolves 125-115 Heat (Jan 3, 2026) Game Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIAMI &#8212; \u2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4594268\/anthony-edwards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anthony Edwards<\/a> scored 33 points, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4396971\/naz-reid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Naz Reid<\/a> had 20 of his 29 in the second half and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/team\/_\/name\/min\/minnesota-timberwolves\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a> pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Miami 125-115 on Saturday night and snap the Heat&#8217;s four-game winning streak.<\/p>\n<p>              <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/3064514\/julius-randle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Julius Randle<\/a> finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds for Minnesota, which outscored Miami 19-4 in the opening 4 1\/2 minutes of the final quarter to turn a four-point lead into a 109-90 edge. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/3032976\/rudy-gobert\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rudy Gobert<\/a> added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Timberwolves.<\/p>\n<p>              <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/2595516\/norman-powell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Norman Powell<\/a> scored 21 for the Heat, who are 3-5 in their last eight home games. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4278053\/davion-mitchell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Davion Mitchell<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4997528\/nikola-jovic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nikola Jovic<\/a> added 14 for Miami, while <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4066261\/bam-adebayo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bam Adebayo<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/3059319\/andrew-wiggins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Andrew Wiggins<\/a> each had 12.<\/p>\n<p>              Edwards had 20 points in the first half, making this the fourth game this season \u2014 and second in a row \u2014 where he had that many by intermission. The last time he had 20 by halftime in two straight games was Feb. 13-16, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>              The Heat saw Powell leave with 6:11 left in the first quarter with right leg soreness; he returned midway through the second quarter around the time <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4432848\/jaime-jaquez-jr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jaime Jaquez Jr<\/a>. left after stepping on Randle&#8217;s foot while playing defense and spraining his right ankle.<\/p>\n<p>              Jaquez did not return.<\/p>\n<p>              Minnesota had dropped three of its last four games coming into Saturday, including perhaps the Timberwolves&#8217; most frustrating loss of the season \u2014 a 126-102 defeat on Wednesday in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>              The Wolves improved to 15-1 this season when holding opponents to 112 points or less.
