Gross lettered with the Utes from 1999-2002 and has spent the last four seasons as head coach at Fruitland High School in Idaho.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8220;Jordan Gross is not only one of the best offensive tackles to ever play the game, he is also an elite teacher and coach,&#8221; Scalley said. &#8220;Jordan has had many opportunities to coach over the past several years both at the collegiate and NFL levels and I&#8217;m elated that our offer to come home was one he felt he couldn&#8217;t turn down.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nGross&#8217; 2025 Fruitland squad went 10-1 and won the Snake River Valley Conference title. His team was bolstered up front by five-star recruit <a href=\"https:\/\/utahutes.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/kelvin-obot\/17467\" rel=\"smarttag noopener\" rev=\"17467\" target=\"_blank\">Kelvin Obot<\/a>, who signed with Utah this past December as the top player in Idaho and the No. 4 offensive tackle in the country.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n&#8220;I am beyond excited to be back home at the U,&#8221; Gross said. &#8220;The opportunity to be a part of Coach Scalley&#8217;s staff is the chance of a lifetime and great days are ahead. I can&#8217;t wait to give everything I have to the O Line group and carry on the proud tradition of OBLOCK. Let&#8217;s roll!! Go Utes!!&#8221;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nGross played his entire 11-year professional career (2003-13) with the Carolina Panthers, after being selected eighth overall by the Panthers in the 2003 NFL Draft. He helped the team to a Super Bowl appearance as a rookie and totaled 167 appearances and starts over his career. It was the most starts of any player in franchise history and fourth-most games played. He protected for the likes of Jake Delhomme, Cam Newton, Vinny Testaverde and David Carr.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nOne of Carolina&#8217;s most consistent linemen in franchise history, his 167 games are the most of any lineman. He played in nine playoff games as a Panther, tied for the third-most playoff appearances in franchise history.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nWith Gross in the trenches, Carolina racked up 22,138 rushing yards\u2014ranking fifth-most in the NFL over his 11 seasons. He was a three-time Pro Bowl selection and earned AP All-Pro in 2008. Gross was inducted into Carolina&#8217;s Hall of Honor in 2019.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSince retirement from the NFL, Gross remained around the Panthers as a television and radio analyst. He has been a part of the radio broadcast team as a color analyst and a host of the weekly Jordan and Jake podcast with Jake Delhomme.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nAs a player at Utah, Gross became the program&#8217;s first Outland Trophy finalist in 2002 as well as the first Utah offensive lineman to earn consensus All-American.
