{"id":491141,"date":"2026-01-04T06:13:15","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T06:13:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/491141\/"},"modified":"2026-01-04T06:13:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-04T06:13:15","slug":"jacksonville-activist-groups-rally-to-condemn-strike-on-venezuela","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/491141\/","title":{"rendered":"Jacksonville activist groups rally to condemn strike on Venezuela"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few dozen protestors came together at Senator Rick Scott&#8217;s Jacksonville office to voice concern over the capture of the Venezuelan president.<\/p>\n<p>JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 Several activist groups in Jacksonville filled part of Bay Street with picket signs and chants, protesting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstcoastnews.com\/article\/news\/nation-world\/us-strikes-venezuela-maduro-captured\/507-49715e42-1c3c-48ea-a1cc-435e4c62f39c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">strike in Venezuela and capturing of President Nicolas Maduro.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the chants was &#8220;cold and rain, we don&#8217;t care, U.S out of everywhere.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There were about 50 people on the front steps of the Charles E. Bennett Federal Building for an emergency rally, with the sentiment that this wasn&#8217;t a situation for the U.S. to get involved in.<\/p>\n<p>Some speakers questioned the true goals of the strike \u2014 whether it has more to do with natural resources like oil than the safety of the Venezuelan people.<\/p>\n<p>Another pointed out we have issues here at home that need addressing, specifically referencing the waitlists at the homeless shelters in Jacksonville.<\/p>\n<p>First Coast News asked one organizer what the ideal outcome of the rally would be.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our demands are for no war in Venezuela, for U.S. to take their hands out of Venezuela and no more blood for oil,&#8221; said Freedom Road Socialist Organization Member, Jamison Collins-Morita. &#8220;They have the power to forge the future of their own country and the U.S. did not need to intervene at all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The rally happened in front of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.firstcoastnews.com\/article\/news\/regional\/florida\/florida-politicians-react-us-strikes-venezuela-capture-maduro\/77-f7fa05e7-669e-44ca-9e4f-5e901667dc39\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Senator Rick Scott&#8217;s<\/a> office, who shared his sentiment on the strike in two posts on X, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenRickScott\/status\/2007399340457775262\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">saying in part:<\/a> &#8220;A new day is here for Venezuela and Latin America. The United States and our hemisphere are safer because of President Trump&#8217;s leadership.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Going on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenRickScott\/status\/2007465561358209224\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in a later post to say<\/a>: &#8220;Maduro was indicted in a U.S. Court and was told to stop sending drugs into our country to kill our kids and grandkids, but he refused.
