So far, early leaks have the Galaxy S26 Ultra shaping up to be something a little more impressive than its predecessors.

Leaker Ice Universe posted new details regarding Samsung’s next S Pen-adorned flagship, just days after sharing information regarding its battery capacity. Once again, Ice Universe doubles down on another generation of 5,000mAh batteries, even as we’ve seen brands like OnePlus and Nothing turn to silicon-carbon technology. Silicon-carbon cells aren’t perfect, but they do allow for larger capacities in slimmer packages — something Samsung seems disinterested in exploring nearly a decade after the Note 7 debacle.

Auto-translated post.

Still, there’s plenty of good news here for Samsung fans. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is keeping the 200MP main sensor around (though it’s unclear if this is an identical sensor) alongside its 5x 50MP periscope telephoto lens. That said, Ice Universe is “90 percent” sure that the base 3x telephoto sensor is moving to 12MP. Megapixel count doesn’t give you a whole lot of insight into what a camera system might operate like, but it should deliver an improvement over the 10MP sensor on the Galaxy S25 Ultra — in resolution, if nothing else.

Despite sticking with a 5,000mAh battery, Ice Universe says the Galaxy S26 Ultra will sport a slimmer design than its predecessor. The Galaxy S25 Ultra feels pretty bulky in the hand, even before holding it next to the Galaxy S25 Edge. Anything Samsung can do to improve this — like, say, utilizing the techniques it learned in developing the Galaxy Z Fold 7 — would go a long way. Finally, similarly to the telephoto changes, Ice Universe remains all but sure this phone will have faster charging.

Advertisement – scroll for more content

The Galaxy S26 series remains pretty far out from launch; assuming a normal release schedule, it should launch in January of next year.

Samsung has reservations open now for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, with a $50 credit when you pre-order and up to $1,150+ in savings.
