{"id":491306,"date":"2026-01-04T07:54:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T07:54:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/491306\/"},"modified":"2026-01-04T07:54:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-04T07:54:14","slug":"man-34-drowns-at-jervis-bay-beach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/491306\/","title":{"rendered":"Man, 34, drowns at Jervis Bay beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com.au\/drowning\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"drowned\">drowned<\/a> at a beach in Jervis Bay, south of Sydney.<\/p>\n<p>The 34-year-old man was one of multiple people who got into trouble at Greenpatch Beach at 4.45pm yesterday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com.au\/australian-capital-territory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"ACT\">ACT<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com.au\/nsw-police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"NSW Police\">NSW Police<\/a>, as well as other emergency services were called, pulled him out and did CPR.<\/p>\n<p>However, he could not be revived, and he died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Three other people were attended to by paramedics, but none needed more medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>The death comes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com.au\/national\/man-has-died-after-being-pulled-from-the-water-on-the-south-coast-this-afternoon\/fd266b1f-f497-40ac-8813-1da90b099691?fbclid=IwY2xjawPGqtFleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeCt8b77I-bQKbX1AJn-uQrHXvJCPihn3gb7FevQPLuXuw9jH7L3VhfLeNy_c_aem__i1LMNByDQ1zGtSumgFOAg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"a day\">a day<\/a> after a man in his 50s died around 10 kilometres north of Jervis Bay.<\/p>\n<p>He was pulled from the water at Lobster Bay Beach in Shoalhaven and could not be revived.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com.au\/sydney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Sydney\">Sydney<\/a> mother also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com.au\/national\/woman-swept-out-to-sea-body-found-maroubra-sydney\/6d33ac39-acfc-4c19-a43f-4d406a27c055\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"drowned\">drowned<\/a> at a beach on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com.au\/new-south-wales\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"NSW\">NSW<\/a> Mid North Coast after trying to save her son.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/5ed4e5dc-68ed-4dd3-8668-ec1f83a1d21f.jpeg\"   alt=\"A Sydney mother is being remembered as a hero after saving her son from drowning at a beach on the NSW mid north coast. (9News)<\/p>\n<p>Mel Austin was swimming at Dunbogan Beach on New Year&#8217;s Day, when her child was caught in a rip.<\/p>\n<p>She herself then came into difficulty, and could not be saved by her husband, Joel.<\/p>\n<p>Five people have now drowned in beaches in New South Wales over the holiday period.<\/p>\n<p>Searches for two missing people in Sydney have now been called off.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities were searching for a 16-year-old boy who missing after a boat capsized at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com.au\/national\/palm-beach-police-search-waters-off-sydney-for-missing-teenager-after-fatal-boat-capsize\/69f870ba-7115-4be8-b198-1939ab83f5b0\" title=\"Palm Beach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palm Beach<\/a> on New Year&#8217;s Eve.
