On January 3, 2026, at approximately 2:40am, Fort Worth Police Officers in the Stockyards observed a vehicle driving the wrong way on Exchange Avenue.\u00a0Due to the traffic infraction and potential danger to the general public, the officers attempted to stop the vehicle.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

The occupants of the vehicle failed to comply with the officer(s) commands, made a U-turn, and fled the location.\u00a0Information about the suspect vehicle was shared with officers in the area.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

A few minutes later, a different police officer patrolling in a marked police unit observed the described suspect vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.\u00a0However, the suspect vehicle fled again, eventually lost control, and crashed into a utility pole near the 1500 block of E 4th\u00a0Street.<\/p>\n

The passenger was extracted from the vehicle but was unresponsive. Officers immediately began to render medical aid; however, the passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The driver of the suspect vehicle was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n

The incident remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
