The NHL\u2019s all-time goals leader fell to the ice in pain before slowly skating off, doubled over, to the bench. There was no call on the play.<\/p>\n<p>The X account @capsreplays <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/capsreplays\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posted the highlights on social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ovechkin did not appear to miss a shift, but was furious with NHL referee Kendrick Nicholson when he returned to the ice, having an animated conversation with the official after the next stoppage in play. Ovechkin held up his lip, presumably showing off his missing chiclet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow can you miss that?\u201d Monumental Sports Network\u2019s Joe Beninati lip-read Ovechkin as saying.<\/p>\n<p>When Ovechkin returned to the bench, he showed off the damage to his mouth to head athletic trainer Jason Serbus, which was caught on the Monumental Sports Network telecast.<\/p>\n<p>The Capitals captain later got his revenge, giving Alex Vlasic a two-handed slash.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019d also draw a tripping penalty on Wyatt Kaiser with 12:33 remaining.<\/p>\n<p>Ovechkin lost his first tooth on October 5, 2007, in a game against the Atlanta Thrashers, his third season in the NHL. Ovechkin absorbed a high stick, and the remaining piece was yanked out after the game. He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2007\/10\/07\/AR2007100700024_pf.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">received 14 stitches<\/a>, but opted to keep the gap.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt makes me look hot,\u201d Ovechkin <a href=\"http:\/\/voices.washingtonpost.com\/dcsportsbog\/2007\/10\/look_at_ovechkins_tooth.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said to the Washington Post\u2019s Dan Steinberg<\/a>. \u201cGirls like it.
