DALLAS \u2014 Firefighters responded to a major fire overnight at an Oncor substation, officials said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Firefighters responded to a call around 12:46 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, at an Oncor substation located at 2405 Sargent Road, Dallas Fire-Rescue said in a press release. The first companies to arrive on the scene reported lots of fire and a large plume of black smoke coming from the facility, officials said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officials initially planned to allow the fire to burn out, but officials were able to work with Oncor representatives to deenergize the substation so companies could suppress the fire.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Dallas Fire-Rescue called an Airport Rescue Firefighting unit to respond to the scene and apply foam to the fire, the release states. The department’s HazMat team was also dispatched to the location, and fire officials notified Dallas’ stormwater department, the EPA, and the TCEQ.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The fire was largely put out around 11 a.m., officials said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
No Oncor customers were affected by the incident, the release states.
