{"id":492871,"date":"2026-01-05T00:03:16","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T00:03:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/492871\/"},"modified":"2026-01-05T00:03:16","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T00:03:16","slug":"san-diegans-rally-against-u-s-military-action-in-venezuela-call-for-peace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/492871\/","title":{"rendered":"San Diegans rally against U.S. military action in Venezuela, call for peace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just hours after the United States launched a military operation in Venezuela that resulted in the capture of President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro, dozens gathered at Waterfront Park in downtown San Diego to protest what they describe as an escalation of war driven by oil interests.<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrators waved flags and held signs reading \u201cNo Blood for Oil\u201d and \u201cEnd Endless Wars,\u201d voicing frustration with the Trump administration\u2019s latest actions and urging a shift toward diplomacy and peace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA feeling of frustration is taking over,\u201d said Emily Von Gerichten, a community organizer with the San Diego Liberation Center who helped organize the rally. \u201cWe just witnessed this huge escalation in the past 15 to 24 hours.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Organizers say the San Diego demonstration was one of more than 100 anti-war protests held nationwide. Participants argued that federal resources should be redirected away from military operations and toward domestic priorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t think money should go to endless wars or the occupation of another sovereign country,\u201d Von Gerichten said. \u201cIt should go to people\u2019s needs here in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Others at the rally echoed similar concerns, saying continued military conflict threatens long-term global stability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think wars are what humanity needs in order to have a healthy future,\u201d one protester said. \u201cWe need peace, climate action, and justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While protests unfolded in the U.S., celebrations erupted among some Venezuelans across the globe following news of Maduro\u2019s capture. Chants and cheers signaled hope for change after years of political and economic turmoil.<\/p>\n<p>Maduro\u2019s government has been blamed for one of the largest migration crises in recent history.
