Houston\u2019s Jewish community came together in a powerful display of unity, joy and generosity at Chanukah on Ice, a community-wide celebration on Sunday,
Dec. 21, at the Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center. <\/p>\n
The festive afternoon featured public ice skating, lively Chanukah music, delicious food and a meaningful menorah-lighting that brought families of all ages together to celebrate the Festival of Lights. Attendees enjoyed pizza, fresh donuts, a popular churro bar, snacks and a vibrant atmosphere that filled the rink with energy and warmth.<\/p>\n
The highlight of the event was an exhilarating ice hockey matchup between the Latka Oilers and the Golden Lights, who faced off in a spirited game dedicated to raising awareness and support for Jewish families battling cancer.<\/p>\n
Chanukah on Ice also served as a fundraiser for RCCS \u2013 Rofeh Cholim Cancer Society \u2013 an organization that provides critical assistance to individuals and families navigating the challenges of cancer. Thanks to the generosity of the community, the event successfully raised an impressive $20,000 to support RCCS\u2019 vital work.<\/p>\n
More than just a celebration, Chanukah on Ice brought together a remarkable cross-section of Houston\u2019s Jewish community \u2013 young and old, families and individuals \u2013 for an afternoon of shared joy, purpose and connection.<\/p>\n
The event was organized by Rabbis Samy Soussan and Johnny Ouzzan, whose leadership and vision helped turn Chanukah on Ice into a meaningful and memorable experience, blending fun, community spirit and chesed.<\/p>\n
