{"id":495019,"date":"2026-01-05T22:04:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T22:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/495019\/"},"modified":"2026-01-05T22:04:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T22:04:09","slug":"passed-out-driver-charged-after-pickup-truck-crashes-into-a-ditch-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/495019\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Passed out&#8217; driver charged after pickup truck crashes into a ditch: police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 35-year-old man was charged yesterday after police responded to a vehicle in the ditch in Blind River.<\/p>\n<p>At approximately 7:20 a.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police attended Birch Street to find a beige pickup truck in the ditch still running and the driver passed out at the wheel.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Police woke him up and detected a strong odour of alcoholic beverage from his breath, along with obvious signs of impairment. He was subsequently arrested and the pickup truck was towed and impounded,&#8221; a news release said.<\/p>\n<p>The OPP also shared a social media post about the crash.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Aaron Leo Owl from Blind River\u00a0was charged with:<\/p>\n<ul>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>Operation while impaired by alcohol<\/li>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<li>Operation while impaired &#8211; blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)<\/li>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/ul>\n<p>None of the allegations have been tested in court and Owl is considered innocent until proven guilty.<\/p>\n<p>He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on March 5.<\/p>\n<p>The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive. Report impaired drivers.
