<\/p>\n GLENDALE ENFORCES NEW E-BIKE AND E-SCOOTER ORDINANCE <\/p>\n New rules on electric powered bicycles (e-bikes) and
\nscooters (e-scooters) in Glendale go into effect January 9, 2026. The
\nordinance, passed by the City Council in December, is intended to enhance rider
\nsafety and ensure responsible use of streets and sidewalks shared with
\npedestrians and vehicles. <\/p>\n E-bikes are categorized into three classes based on how they
\noperate and their maximum speed.<\/p>\n \u2022 Class 1: Pedal-assist only (no throttle) with a top speed
\nof 20 mph <\/p>\n \u2022 Class 2: Has pedals, a throttle and a top speed of 20 mph <\/p>\n \u2022 Class 3: Has pedals, a throttle and a top speed of 28 mph <\/p>\n Minimum age requirements apply to all riders: <\/p>\n \u2022 E-scooter riders must be at least 12 years old <\/p>\n \u2022 E-bike class 1 and 2 riders must be at least 14 years old <\/p>\n \u2022 E-bike class 3 riders must be at least 16 years old <\/p>\n All e-bikes and e-scooters operated at night must be
\nequipped with a white front light, red rear light and reflectors. Riders must
\nfollow all traffic laws and ride responsibly. Reckless riding, traveling
\nagainst traffic and intentionally lifting a wheel while moving are not allowed.
\nHelmets are required for anyone under the age of 18. <\/p>\n The Glendale Police Department will begin enforcing the new
\nordinance Jan. 9 and violations will result in fines starting at $50 and
\nincreasing to up to $500 for three violations within a 12-month period. <\/p>\n Full details of the ordinance are available on
