{"id":495787,"date":"2026-01-06T05:35:39","date_gmt":"2026-01-06T05:35:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/495787\/"},"modified":"2026-01-06T05:35:39","modified_gmt":"2026-01-06T05:35:39","slug":"massive-37-story-high-rise-proposed-for-upper-east-side-docs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/495787\/","title":{"rendered":"Massive 37-Story High-Rise Proposed For Upper East Side: Docs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UPPER EAST SIDE, NY \u2014 The first set of permits has been filed for a new 37-story apartment building on the corner of Third Avenue and East 84th Street, according to the New York City Department of Buildings. <\/p>\n<p>According to the official filings, the new building would replace the four-story building currently at 1491 Third Ave. and rise 510 feet over Third Avenue, yielding 120 apartments, two cellar levels, 30 parking spaces, a backyard and 18,994 square feet of designated commercial space. <\/p>\n<p>First reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/newyorkyimby.com\/2026\/01\/permits-filed-for-1491-third-avenue-on-manhattans-upper-east-side.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">New York YIMBY<\/a>, the permits filed thus far are for plumbing work for the new building. Demolition permits have not been filed yet with the city, according to the Department of Buildings. <\/p>\n<p>The owner of the building is Samy Mahfar, according to the filings, and the architect is Hill West Architects. <\/p>\n<p>The permits are being reviewed by the city, according to the Department of Buildings.
