SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) \u2014 A call about a vehicle fire ends in the arrest of a man who is now facing animal cruelty charges.<\/p>\n

The Bexar County Sheriff\u2019s Office says they were called to the 600 block of Kayroe Drive Thursday about a vehicle that was in flames.<\/p>\n

When they arrived, they found a dead chicken, along with dozens more injured birds and evidence that cockfighting had taken place at the scene.<\/p>\n

Deputies also located three severely malnourished dogs.<\/p>\n

They arrested Aundra Mathis on three counts of animal cruelty.<\/p>\n

Deputies found evidence at the scene indicating Mathis had previously strangled a dog and provoked the chickens to fight.<\/p>\n

BCSO says Mathis denied living at the property and being the owner of the dogs, but did admit to owning some of the chickens.<\/p>\n

Animal Control has taken custody of the animals.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
