CHICAGO (WLS) — Two people were stabbed at a CTA Red Line station Monday night, Chicago police said.<\/p>\n

The stabbing occurred at about 10:53 p.m. at the 69th Street stop in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Police said a man and woman were arguing with a suspect who pulled out a sharp object and attacked both victims.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old woman suffered a puncture wound o the chest and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition, police said.<\/p>\n

A 24-year-old man sustained a puncture wound to the back and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition, police said.<\/p>\n

No one is in custody and Area One detectives are investigating.<\/p>\n

This latest act of violence comes as the CTA is facing federal pressure to improve safety<\/p>\n

The Federal Transit Authority rejected the CTA’s initial safety plan saying it didn’t go far enough to protect riders.<\/p>\n

Federal transit officials are ordering the CTA to submit a new plan or risk losing federal funding.<\/p>\n
