In 2019, the automaker sold 2.42 million vehicles in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Ford finished the year as the third-largest automaker in the U.S. behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/TM\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Toyota Motor<\/a> and domestic sales leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/GM\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General Motors<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Ford&#8217;s U.S. vehicle sales for the year were largely in line with analyst expectations, such as those from Cox Automotive, which expects industrywide sales to have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coxautoinc.com\/insights-hub\/replay-available-cox-automotive-q4-2025-industry-insights-and-2026-forecast-call\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">risen about 2%<\/a>\u00a0to 16.3 million units in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re really pleased with where we finished the year,&#8221; Andrew Frick, president of Ford&#8217;s non-fleet vehicle businesses, said during a media call. &#8220;As the year unfolded, we saw really good performance throughout. &#8230; We outperformed the industry for 10 straight months.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ford&#8217;s fourth-quarter performance came as it continues to battle production troubles with its F-Series pickup trucks due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/11\/20\/another-fire-ignites-at-ford-aluminum-supplier-novelis.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two separate fires<\/a> at a New York plant of key aluminum supplier Novelis.<\/p>\n<p>Frick said the automaker &#8220;seems to be on track&#8221; to offset lost production of tens of thousands of its lucrative pickup trucks this year, including adding another shift to a plant in Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>F-Series sales, including the popular F-150, were up 8.3% in 2025, but off 3.1% during the fourth quarter. <\/p>\n<p>Like many automakers, Ford&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/12\/23\/evs-gm-ford-hyundai-tesla.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EV business notably declined<\/a> 14.1% last year amid, including a roughly 52% plummet during the fourth quarter.
