Shedeur Sanders got a seven-game run to make his case to be the Browns\u2019 starting quarterback, but Monday\u2019s decision to fire head coach Kevin Stefanski is just one of the reasons that his status for 2026 remains an open question. <\/p>\n
Deshaun Watson remains on the roster<\/a> and General Manager Andrew Berry said on Monday that the team is \u201cgoing to do our work on the quarterback market<\/a>\u201d heading into the offseason. Berry said Sanders did \u201csome really good things,\u201d but remains a work in progress and that quarterback is \u201ctoo important of a position\u201d to simply stand pat. <\/p>\n Sanders said on Monday that his mentality regarding the coaching change is that \u201cthings are going to happen\u201d and that he\u2019s focused on what he can improve before playing under a new coach. Sanders also said that his own view of his ability to handle the starting role isn\u2019t the most significant evaluation.<\/p>\n \u201cI think I did what I was able to do, and I definitely grew from a lot of things, and I got experience now,\u201d Sanders said, via a transcript from the team. \u201cSo, I\u2019m always the same, confidence-wise, I\u2019m there. But like, that\u2019s not in my hands. Like, that\u2019s not my decision.
