The audience of\u00a0The View\u00a0were shocked after one of the hosts defended President Donald Trump\u2019s<\/b> removal of Venezuelan President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro<\/strong>, going against the rest of her liberal costars.<\/p>\n

The talk show<\/a> opened its Monday January 5 episode<\/a> with a conversation about the capture of Maduro two days earlier. Cohost Sunny Hostin<\/strong> argued that Trump and his administration \u201cviolated international law.\u201d<\/p>\n

But cohost Ana Navarro<\/b>, who was born in Nicaragua, then surprised her fellow panelists by saying said she supported Maduro\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n

Navarro<\/a>, 54, is a Republican but a vocal critic of President Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people of South Florida, the Venezuelan community, the Cuban American community, the Nicaraguan American community voted for this,\u201d the lawyer \u2014 who clarified that she believes the president \u201cdoesn\u2019t give a damn\u201d about the Venezuelan people or the drug trade \u2014 explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd for us, this is a very, very happy day when we see a dictator who has been part of oppressing and abusing the Venezuelan people for 25 years. When we see him in handcuffs and held to some sort of accountability, it brought me to tears. It brought me great joy,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Cohost Sunny Hostin<\/b>\u00a0interrupted, asking \u201cAre you OK with the way it was done?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think both things could be true,\u201d Navarro responded. \u201cI think you can criticize and ask questions and have concerns about the way it was done and what this means in the future and I think you can still celebrate that this murderous, corrupt, sadistic son of a bitch is out of Venezuela.\u201d<\/p>\n

The audience erupted in applause in response to Navarro\u2019s comments.<\/p>\n

Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin<\/strong> agreed that she was also \u201ccelebrating\u201d but had concerns about \u201cthe lack of Congressional authority\u201d and the administration\u2019s plans for moving forward.<\/p>\n

Responding to the comments made on The View, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly told Entertainment Weekly<\/a>\u00a0in a statement: \u201cOver 60 countries around the world held that Nicol\u00e1s Maduro was an illegitimate ruler\u2026 the Biden administration had a reward for information leading to his arrest.\u201d<\/p>\n
