Memphis Grizzlies<\/a> star Ja Morant<\/a> has been downgraded to doubtful to play on Jan. 6 against the San Antonio Spurs<\/a> (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network) because of a right calf contusion.<\/p>\n

Morant was initially listed as questionable on Jan. 5. <\/a>If he doesn’t play, this will be his second consecutive missed game.<\/p>\n

He first appeared hobbled during a Jan. 2 game against the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>, but he finished the matchup with 16 points and 11 assists while gutting it out.<\/p>\n

This isn’t the first time Morant has dealt with a calf injury. He suffered a Grade 1 right calf strain in a Nov. 15 matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He missed 10 games and returned on Dec. 12.<\/p>\n

Morant has missed 17 games this season, including the first two matchups against the Spurs. In 18 appearances, he’s averaging 19 points and 7.6 assists.<\/p>\n

Other Grizzlies injury news<\/p>\n

The Grizzlies are likely to have Vince Williams Jr. back. He was upgraded to probable for the Jan. 6 game against San Antonio. He has missed the previous eight games with left patellar tendinitis.<\/p>\n

Grizzlies rookie Cedric Coward will miss his second game of the season. He’s out against the Spurs due to a left ankle sprain.<\/p>\n

Coward left a Jan. 4 loss to the Lakers in the second quarter after injuring his ankle.<\/p>\n
