{"id":497373,"date":"2026-01-06T21:20:15","date_gmt":"2026-01-06T21:20:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/497373\/"},"modified":"2026-01-06T21:20:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-06T21:20:15","slug":"update-laupahoehoe-point-road-portion-of-highway-11-in-ka%ca%bbu-reopen-big-island-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/497373\/","title":{"rendered":"UPDATE: Laup\u0101hoehoe Point Road, portion of Highway 11 in Ka\u02bb\u016b, reopen : Big Island Now"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Update at 7:40 a.m. Jan. 6<\/strong>: Portions of Highway 11 in the Ka\u2018\u016b District have since reopened after the roadway was closed Monday due to flooding at mile markers 62 and 56.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service in Honolulu has also canceled its flood advisory and flood watch for Hawai\u2018i Island.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update at 9 p.m. Jan. 5:<\/strong> The National Weather Service has extended a flood advisory for the H\u0101m\u0101kua, Hilo, Puna, and the Ka\u02bb\u016b districts.<\/p>\n<p>Around 5:45 p.m., the Hawai\u02bbi Police Department put out a statement  to avoid Laup\u0101hoehoe Point Road due to a landslide that likely started due to the rainfall. <\/p>\n<p>More information and details are expected and it is unknown how long the road will be closed. <\/p>\n<p>Then, around 10:30 p.m., the Hawai\u02bbi Police Department advised drivers to avoid Highway 11 (between the 62-mile marker and the 56-mile marker)in Ka\u2018\u016b due to a road closure from the result of flooding.
